Book your slot for the Mumbai Midnight Cycling event. Features a guided South Mumbai route, cycle rentals, safety leads, and route details for a perfect weekend outing. You can bring your own cycle or opt for a rental cycle, the Night Cycling event is organized by Mumbai Travel Club at Midnight Cycling Point - Colaba every weekend, offering a well-structured, guided group ride along iconic South Mumbai (So-Bo) landmarks.
Night Cycling is an ideal weekend escape for local night owls looking for something unique, out-of-town visitors, international travelers, families, groups of friends, and even kids who can comfortably ride a bicycle. Ideal for ones who are looking for a quick weekend getaway without leaving town or searching for the best experience in Mumbai for weekend, a guided midnight ride offers a whole new perspective on SoBo's famous architecture and coastal roads.
Around 1:30 AM on Marine Drive, the city’s daytime traffic completely disappears, leaving wide coastal avenues quiet and open. For anyone wanting to see South Mumbai (SoBo) with comparatively lesser traffic or crowded local trains, night cycling is one of the most practical and atmospheric ways to experience the city after dark.

The full Mumbai midnight cycling route covers roughly 20 to 22 kilometers across South Mumbai's architectural and coastal hubs. It starts late in the evening by 10:30 pm and wraps up near dawn by 04:00 am. The Group takes Multiple breaks on the route during the Cycling event.
The primary midnight cycling point and assembly hub is located in Colaba. After cycle allocation, cycle checks, and safety briefings, the group rolls out toward Nariman Point and onto Marine Drive, riding along the open coastal curve with minimal road traffic.
After a short regroup at Girgaon Chowpatty, the road shifts into a steady incline leading up toward Hanging Garden on Malabar Hill. First-time riders are often surprised by this incline. If you are riding a geared cycle, switching down to lower gear ratios before the climb begins helps you maintain momentum without straining your chain.
After descending from Malabar Hill, the circuit takes you through the heart of South Mumbai’s historic district. You will pedal past the lit-up facade of CSMT (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus), pass Flora Fountain, and halt briefly near the grand white steps of the Asiatic Society Library.
The grand finale of the route circles past the iconic Gateway of India plaza and the historic Taj Mahal Palace hotel before rolling back to the main starting hub in Colaba to finish the event.
Gear Shifting Technique: If you are using a rented geared bike, never shift gears while the bike is stationary or while pedaling backward. Shifting must be done while pedaling forward gently to avoid dropping the chain.
KYC & Registration: In compliance with local regulations, all participants must submit valid ID and registration details prior to the event. Unregistered riders cannot join the group.
Single-File Road Etiquette: Even with quiet midnight roads, riders must stay in a single-file line along the left side of the road. Racing or weaving across lanes is strictly forbidden.
Footwear: Closed-toe sports shoes are mandatory. Sandals, chappals, or open heels are not permitted for pedal safety.
Luggage: Carry only a small sling bag or lightweight backpack for water and personal items. There is no storage facility at the assembly midnight cycling point for heavy luggage or laptop bags.
