Overview

Mumbai is a city that never stops, even at night, it’s full of small, quiet stories waiting to be framed. Our Mumbai Photo Walks are designed for anyone who wants to slow down and see the city differently. You don't need to be a pro with a DSLR, you can be a someone who just loves taking aesthetic shots on their phone, or meeting new people and learning something new.

Each weekend, we pick a new theme and a new corner of the city from the narrow, colorful lanes of Koliwadas and the heritage charm of Kala Ghoda to the chaotic energy of Dadar’s Flower Market at dawn. The goal is simple: we teach you the basics of composition and lighting while you meet a bunch of like-minded people. No boring lectures just real-time tips, creative challenges, and a post-walk "chai and chat" session where we discuss our best shots and the stories behind them. It’s a space to learn, make new friends, and build a community of creators right here in the bay.

The Roadmap: Morning in Girgaon

07:00 AM – The Gathering We meet near the iconic Phadke Ganpati Temple or a designated landmark in Girgaon. We’ll start with a quick introduction and a briefing on "Festive Street Photography" how to capture movement and emotions in a moving crowd without getting in the way.

07:30 AM – The Shobhayatra Commences As the procession begins, we move along the main road. This is the prime time to capture the Dhol-Tasha Pathaks. The energy is high, and the visuals are stunning. We’ll look for unique angles to frame the performers and the decorated floats.

08:30 AM – Heritage & Traditions We’ll navigate through the internal 'Wadis' of Girgaon. Here, you’ll see families raising the Gudi (the victory pole) outside their windows and drawing massive, colorful rangolis. This is where you get those quiet, beautiful shots of traditional rituals.

10:00 AM – The Festive Meetup & Snacks After the main energy of the parade, we’ll head to a local authentic eatery. There’s no better way to end a Gudipadwa walk than sharing some Shrikhand-Puri or hot Batata Vadas with your fellow walkers.

⚠️ Important Note & Safety Protocol

  • Dress Code: To fully soak in the vibe, we encourage participants to wear Traditional Attire (Kurta/Saree), but ensure it is comfortable for walking.
  • Crowd Alert: The Shobhayatra gets extremely crowded. Always keep your camera strap around your neck and be mindful of your pockets.
  • Reach Early: Girgaon roads start closing for vehicles by 6:30 AM. We recommend using the Mumbai Local (Charni Road Station) to reach the start point easily.
  • Ethical Photography: While everyone is in a festive mood, always be respectful. Avoid blocking the path of the performers or the palki for a photo.
  • Hydration: Even in the morning, the humidity can be high with the crowds. Carry a water bottle.
Important Points to Note
  • Comfort First: Wear comfortable walking shoes and light cotton clothes.
  • Respect the Subject: When clicking portraits of locals, always ask for permission first. We practice "Ethical Street Photography."
  • Stay Hydrated: Carry a water bottle. Mumbai mornings can get humid even early on.
  • Weather Check: In case of light rain, the walk continues! Bring a plastic cover or dry bag for your camera gear.
